Water professionals publish and present their technical findings in journals and at conferences, but then share their personal stories during coffee breaks and across the dinner table. Many of us never get to hear these stories although they reveal the heart and soul of our profession. Maybe it’s time to tell our stories and share our journeys! This is what I hope to encourage with this book. What should have been a year or two of laboratory experiments became a passion, a lifelong journey that took me back in time and around the world. I found myself investing in something more than a career, than a resume, than a job title and a paycheck. I became part of something bigger, more lasting, and more valuable. This is how it happened.
