About “From Orphan to Physician – The Winding Path”

Dr. Chan describes how after World War II, when civil war broke out in China, his family escaped to Hong Kong, how they survived in utter poverty, and how he went from being an orphan to graduating from Harvard Medical School and becoming a cardiologist. The writing is fluent, easy to read and understand. The sequence of events is realistic, emotionally moving, spiritually touching, heart-warming, and thought-provoking. The author repeatedly experienced God’s miracles, enabling him to accomplish much. Yet he constantly hid himself and gave glory to God.

About the Author

Chun-Wai Chan, MD-MPH is a graduate of Princeton University, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard School of Public Health. He is currently Chief of Cardiology and Assistant Physician-In-Chief at Kaiser Medical Center in Fresno, California. Since 1997 Dr. Chan has also been the speaker for numerous marriage enrichment retreats and communication seminars throughout the United States and abroad, helping couples improve their family relationships. He also founded the Children’s Garden Foundation, raising funds to build and support orphanages and elementary schools in China.
